What is CBD?Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound found in Marijuana. CBD is not impairing, meaning it does not cause a “high.” CBD can be derived from hemp or from non-hemp plants. Hemp is defined as any part of the cannabis sativa plant with no more than 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the mind-altering substance in marijuana. What are the benefits of taking CBD? CBD is advertised as providing relief for anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. It is also marketed to promote sleep. Part of CBD's popularity is that it purports to be “nonpsychoactive,” and that consumers can reap health benefits from the plant without the high (or the midnight pizza munchies).

Is it OK to consume CBD everyday?Yes , daily use can help, especially if you're taking it for symptoms you experience daily - such as chronic pain, frequent anxiety, or trouble sleeping. For example, CBD can soothe your nervous system, and it's easier to prevent a symptom from escalating than it is to try to manage a severe flare-up. Who should avoid taking CBD? People considering or taking CBD products should always mention their use to their doctor, particularly if they are taking other medications or have underlying medical conditions, such as liver disease, kidney disease, epilepsy, heart issues, a weakened immune system, or are on medications that can weaken the immune system.

Does CBD get you high?CBD is non-intoxicating. THC, the main active ingredient in Cannabis sativa, is both a psychoactive compound and an intoxicating cannabinoid that leaves its users feeling “high.” CBD is a different cannabinoid found in Cannabis sativa and while it is technically psychoactive, it is non-intoxicating. The level of THC present in Cannabis sativa is what determines the plant’s classification as marijuana or hemp; hemp, by definition, contains no more than 0.3% THC.

Does CBD show up on a drug test? While employers that conduct drug screenings do not test for CBD metabolites, they almost certainly test for THC, the intoxicating compound found in cannabis. So, in short, the answer is no, CBD itself should not trigger a positive drug test. However, because THC can be found in minute quantities in full-spectrum CBD tinctures, gummies, or capsules, there is a chance that a person could test positive in a drug screening after taking certain CBD products.

How long does it take for the CBD to take effect for my pet?CBD takes 30-45 minutes to start working. As a rule, oils tend to kick in a little faster than biscuits or treats just because there are fewer ingredients for furry bellies to break down first. But there's no difference in effectiveness between the two.

However, CBD can influence brain activity in pets, which leads to some of the potential benefits, such as a reduction in stress and anxiety for dogs and cats. Pets should never be given an intoxicating level of THC. It’s important to discuss dosage instructions with your veterinarian and to never experiment with products not created specifically for pets.
